Where Ancient Heritage Meets the Sky
Join Bangkok Hiking for a special evening in Ayutthaya, where Thailand’s ancient heritage meets the colorful world of international kites.
For the first time, AYUTTHAYA WORLD HERITAGE & SKY FESTIVAL 2026 brings an international kite festival to the spectacular setting of Ayutthaya, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our trip combines historic temples, a river cruise, elephant bathing and an evening at the international kite festival.
Experience the unique contrast of ancient temples, traditional culture and a modern international festival in one evening.
Trip Highlights
- Visit 2 historic temples in Ayutthaya (1) Wat Na Phra Meru Rachikaram and (2) Wat Phanan Choeng Worawihan
- Boating along the rivers surrounding the historic city
- Watch elephants bathing in the river
- Experience the international kite festival

- Watch the evening light-and-sound show and illuminated kite procession
Itinerary

12:20: Meet at Caltex Gas Station, Ari BTS Station
12:30: Depart Bangkok by van and travel to Ayutthaya
14:00: Visit Wat Na Phra Meru Rachikaram
14:45: Visit Wat Phanan Choeng Worawihan
- Wat Phanan Choeng is one of Ayutthaya’s most revered temples and has long been respected by the Thai-Chinese community. After exploring the temple, we continue to the pier for our river cruise.
15:30: Boat tour around Ayutthaya and elephant-watching experience
- Cruise along the rivers surrounding the historic city and enjoy a different perspective of Ayutthaya. We will also visit an area where elephant caretakers bring their elephants to bathe in the river. Depending on the situation, visitors may have the opportunity to purchase food and feed the elephants.
17:00: Arrive at the international kite festival
- Enjoy the international kite parade, cultural performances and the atmosphere of the festival.
19:00: Thai national anthem and official evening festival activities
- Explore the festival grounds, watch kite displays and performances, and enjoy the many food stalls, snacks, local products and community markets. There will also be various competitions and stage performances throughout the evening.
22:00: Light & Sound Show and illuminated kite procession
22:30: Depart Ayutthaya and return to Bangkok
23:30: Arrive in Bangkok and end of the trip

Ayutthaya’s temple (not historical ruins)
- Visit two important temples and discover the history and culture of Thailand’s former capital.
Boating Cruise & Elephants
- Boating around Ayutthaya’s historic waterways and visit an area where elephants are brought to bathe in the river. Visitors may also purchase food to feed the elephants.
World Heritage & Sky Festival
- Enjoy international kite displays, parades, cultural performances, food stalls and community markets, all set against the backdrop of Ayutthaya’s UNESCO World Heritage landscape.
- The evening concludes with a spectacular light-and-sound show and illuminated kite procession.
